Welcome

Hello and welcome to the information page for our event, we hope you will enjoy your weekend, if you do tell everybody else, if you do not tell us. You should report to the organiser's tent (First campsite to the main entrance, it is green with white piping) on arrival there, you will be issued with car passes, please display on your vehicle at all times and wrist bands, please wear them at all times these are to identify yourself, for site security and for future access to the battlefield. Please have available your security number when booking in, if you do not have it with you your registration may be delayed or even refused. Groups not using their own security number may be banned from the event.

Supermarkets

The nearest supermarkets, fuel and cash points are in Fruges, about 15 minutes along the D928. Directions leaving Azincourt turn right onto the D928 the next town is Fruges. If you leave Azincourt and turn left onto the D928 this will take you to Hesdin, there are large supermarkets there and more facilities, as it is a much larger town.

Supermarket locations

Rubbish

We have a supply of dustbin bags at the organiser’s tent where you booked in should you need any. Please note that all glass must be disposed of in a separate bag to normal rubbish, the French have a glass recycling policy. There are designated disposal points please ask where before dumping bags.

Site safety

We have a site speed restriction of 10 m.p.h. clockwise vehicle access one way system around the site, pass with the English campsite and main arena on your right, around the back of the French campsite and back out to the main entrance. Please remove all vehicles as soon as possible to ensure those arriving after you can get onto site. Do not block these routes with cars or tents, they will be removed. If the weather should be wet then do not drive at high speed through the entrances, all this does is to make the area dangerous and eventually impassable. Your vehicle may well have to be towed out with the possible risk of damage, something we cannot be held responsible for. Should you find routes which you do not think are safe, then do not ignore it tell us!

Parking

Behind the main battlefield are plastic camping and car parking spaces; access is through the farm next door, a 10 m.p.h. zone, via the rear of the town car park opposite the church. This area will also have paddocks for horses drive considerately past them along the rear hedge line. Please park tidily and ensure all group vehicles have car passes on display. This is a closed site and as such there is not any overnight security so ensure vehicles are properly locked.

Insurance

In order for any group or individual to take part in the physical fighting of the battle we recommend that they have their own insurance of a minimum £5 million. This should be shown and a copy given to the Azincourt Alliance representative when booking in or if not at the commanders meeting. If you do not have insurance available, then please advise us and minimal cover (£1 million Public Liability only) may be extended to combatants by the Museum.

Meetings

There will be obligatory commanders meetings on Saturday at Midday also after the dress rehearsal at 18.00 and Sunday at Midday all will be held at the English campsite under the communal awning. Please ensure that the commander from your group attends. These meetings are important and are to discuss both the battle script, safety and any problems groups may be having. Group commanders who do not attend will be noted and their group will not be able to attend either the rehearsal or battle, so it is in your own interests to attend.

Alcohol and drugs

It cannot be emphasized enough that alcohol or illegal substances are not permitted before any form of combat, if you over indulge the night before you should consider the levels still in your bloodstream, would you pass a breathalyzer or any other tests if you were driving? The bar staff have been advised not to supply any alcoholic drinks to anyone in costume during the event, please do not make their life any more difficult by trying to convince them otherwise.

Pets
Pets are the responsibility of their owners they should be kept under full control at all times. Any waste produced by them should be cleaned up and dispose of hygienically, they should not be allowed to make unnecessary/excessive noise or to wander freely. You may enjoy their company and attention, but others may not, be considerate.

Fires

You are welcome to have fires in the authentic areas only. Fires must either be in pits or off the ground with the grass beneath protected. The Azincourt Alliance will be providing firewood, there will be plenty (approximately 2 tonnes per campsite) so do not hoard, if you find we are running out then advise us and we will arrange for more to be delivered. When fire pits are dug remove the top grass as a turf, roll up with the grass outside and keep watered throughout the time it is rolled. When replacing turfs remove the well-damped ashes and tread turf back in and water. All fire ashes must be fully extinguished before disposal, do not dump in tree lines as this can start a fire.

Toilets and Water

There are plenty of toilets around the site both chemical and permanent. Should you find these need servicing at any time please inform us and we will arrangement for it. Water is available from the sink and standpipe outside the toilets opposite the tennis courts also from two standpipes at each end of the battlefield. All water from these points is safe to drink.

Accidents and losses

All accidents should be reported to the organiser's at the earliest opportunity, should an ambulance be required then we will arrange for it to be called. The Azincourt Alliance has their own first aiders, any basic first aid can be provided by them or your own group first aiders should you have one. In addition during the Sunday event there will Red Cross representatives provided by the museum.

Any lost and found items should be reported/deposited at the organiser’s tent. We must remind you that we do not have any permanent security. Your valuables should be stored safely and if you should see anyone acting suspiciously advise us immediately. Our crime statistics for this event are very good we would like to keep it that way.
